This young professional family loved their inner-city location but needed a home that functioned for their growing family. The goal was to reimagine their 1940s Queenslander into a lighter, more cohesive home, balancing heritage warmth with contemporary flow and flexibility.
Previous renovations had left the home feeling disjointed, with uneven floor levels and structural concerns on the lower level. The brief called for a complete rethink. Our main focuses were improving circulation, drawing in natural light, and crafting a home that evolves as their needs changed.
We brought clarity to complex renovation challenges, including assisting in staging the project into two practical phases. By focusing on strategic spatial planning and construction sequencing, we achieved a design that transformed the home’s liveability throughout both stages, without compromising the overall design aesthetic.
We introduced natural light throughout the lower level, refined the internal layout to create intuitive flow, and established visual and material cohesion between spaces. Every choice, from materiality and fixtures to structural adjustments, was made to future proof the home, functionally and aesthetically.
Now, it’s a warm, inviting family home that feels balanced, light-filled, and ready to grow with its owners. Thoughtfully designed to evolve with time, it’s a home that reflects integrity and intentional craftsmanship.
